Good sales have continued into November with many visitors saying they have seen our Advertisement on Television. The Port Augusta Writers Group held a successful launch of the new book they have printed in collaboration with the Whyalla Writers. Christmas Lunch will be held on December 5th at The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden. A Brush with Art is over for another year and  so are the Pichi Richi train trips. We have had some great sales and now move towards putting items in the gallery that will be suitable in the lead up to Christmas.  Senior Students from Port Augusta Secondary School are currently exhibiting at The Platform.  The beginning of Spring, a focus on the regional Art Trail, A BRUSH WITH ART and creating our first TV advertisement created a buzz this month.  Thank you to everyone who helped set up the OUR PLACE UP CLOSE exhibition, as they say "many hands make light work" and the gallery looks fabulous.  You can see the virtual tour at   https://vtc.virtualtourscreator.com.au/share/ae213ba24a8144b698ed70e47121cae1 Thanks also to those who came along for the filming of our advertisement we had a good range of activities to demonstrate that we are an active gallery and of course the gallery looked wonderful. We now have a tablet at the desk instead of a phone and we are working towards using this instead of the day book.   The come and try days have been very successful and Lynda's beading morning was no exception.  Also Georgie's Pastel morning. Two new exhibitions this month featuring Lisa Wood and her popular limestone sculptures as well as Fibrespace Textile Artists.   May 2021 Looking back at our May activities we need to congratulate everyone on a job well done. Richard and Isabel exhibitions have attracted a lot of interest and positive feedback. The opening morning was full of friends, family and supportive gallery members. Thanks to Beyond Bank for supporting the event. Jenny’s printing day and Tammy’s come and try were a great success and it is encouraging to see people engaging in the arts. Congratulations to Christie on her successful Exhibition at Yarta Purtli. Christie has added some new work to The Platform Gallery. We will be using photos of artists and their work in social media promotions for A Brush With Art. There are currently 2 great exhibitions at Yarta Purtli and we encourage people to pop in and support the artists and make use of this great space.   The monthly "Come and Try" days are proving successful. Thanks to Anne for sharing her Alpacca process, a good time was had by all. May Calendar Saturday 1st May .. International Printing in May day 10am- noon. Saturday 8th May - Opening of exhibitions by Richard Churchill and Isabel Carn 10am.    Photographers meet at 1pm. Saturday 15th May - Come and Try day with Tammy.  10till noon. The New lease will be drawn up and will commence from June. Annual rent will increase at 2% per annum and we will need to pay $1000 in legal fees.

  Our first come and try day got off to a good start with 7 people attending and a couple of others popping in for a while. Georgie shared a few techniques concentrating on upside down drawing, a technique which helps artists concentrate on the lines and angles they see to help give a true representation of the subject. Then people were encouraged to make the drawing their own by blocking out some areas with black ink and as a final bit of sparkle adding some gold leaf using a glue pen to produce some fine lines and filling in small areas. Everyone approached the task differently and took from it what they wished. Anne Kenny will host the next activity day on April 17th. A property valuer recently inspected the railway station building and as a result our rent has increased to $3000 per year.
