Water Colour Workshop with Alan Ramachandran

A huge THANK YOU!!!  to Jenny Bourne and the Wednesday evening painters, in particular, Patsy, Pam, Ruth and Yolanda for pulling this workshop together.

 The water colour workshop with Alan Ramachandran was great success.

Participants met at the Platform Gallery on Saturday 5th May where they learnt about working from light to dark, water to paint ratio, tonal values, texture, composition and more.




On Sunday the 6th May everyone met at The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden to put their new knowledge into action "in the field".


 Alan has expressed a desire to return and work with everyone again.... just have to work out how to fit everything into our busy schedule.

 May-June2023 This year there has seen an unfortunate spate of broken windows, graffiti and other damage at the railway station. Thank you to all members who have:  * reported breakages, and the presence of youths frequenting the building in the evenings. Please contact police if this continues. *come forward to assist with cleaning up broken glass and rearranging areas of the gallery and store rooms. * alerted Port Augusta Secondary School about students loitering around the railway station. On Thursday 8th June personnel from Department Infrastructure and Transport  and Ventia visited the Railway Station and Gallery to assess how things might be improved. Discussion included replacing glass with perspex.... (other additional features can't be added due to the heritage listing of the building). Floors and walls were also measured in readiness for repair and painting following the storm damage last year so there will be some disruptions to the gallery sometime in the near future. T

50Years

  A member since 1973 Georgie Sharp celebrated 50 years involvement with the Arts and Curdnatta Art Group with an exhibition at Yarta Purtli gallery this month. Thanks to the members who attended the opening it was great to get back to socialising after the restrictive covid years. Thanks to Morgan and Carly for the images. Georgie's scarves depicted some of the techniques she has explored over time including screen printing, marbling, photography, pastels, ink painting and digital drawings and designs.  PORT AUGUSTA FRINGE  Venues and artists have been invited to be part of the FRINGE in Port Augusta during February/March in 2024. The Port Augusta City Council will oversee local events to ensure they don't overlap too much. Jumping into 2024

 Wow we hit the year running with The Floor being renovated and everyone helping with the BIG move back setting everything up again. We have a slick pared back look for 2024. This was followed by THE FRINGE set up.  We have about 40 participants in UNDISCOVERED with an eclectic range of arts and crafts from all ages. Congratulations to all. On February 15th we held our first Family Friendly Art Morning. These will be held on the 3rd Saturday of each Month. Time table is at the website. https://curdnatta.wixsite.com/website In February we celebrate our 59th Birthday and now we gear up for our 60th in 2025. The BIG focus for our 60th will be the  MAY EXHIBITION  This is a return to an old tradition where all members participate and we celebrate the diversity of our members. We have 12 months to prepare so no excuses :-D
